Running Inside to Hide

Stretching my soul about a mile wide

I feel the breathing, the lives of those I shield inside.

They struggle; they suffer

They push deep in my side

They cannot be seen, they do not understand

but I know they must hide.

In this life of racing cars only those with shields shall survive

For those exposed to what god knows they will not stay alive.

If I can reach further, reach farther! then the more I can revive

But my humanity limits my ability to protect those who cannot drive

In this life of winding roads, those unable to grab the wheel

Shall learn to no return the story how Achilles lost his heel

I choose to close my eyes and reach my arms wide

I shield my mind, I stay inside, In here I shall reside.
